Throughout the project we were able to learn about a lot of internal process of FedEx Ground. It was a very interesting experience while visiting the FedEx Ground building. To know the bigger picture behind the whole shipping process of FedEx Ground and the various information systems used by them. Though FedEx Ground makes use of several complex Management Information Systems, their process seemed exceptionally outstanding. Making use of location trackers attached to the the trailers and delivery vans to get real time information about the packages that are on the road, using automated scanner systems for keeping track of package count that are processed on a daily basis and using MIS to track and trap packages for quick delivery are just some of the few highlights from the information we learnt through this project.
